Use the generated image as original title artwork, then add dates and credits in your editor. Thorned silhouettes suit short band names; dense ornament can obscure long phrases. This tool does not copy a named band logo or supply an installable font.
By Fontique EditorialPublished Updated
Death metal lettering is built from atmosphere: narrow blackletter strokes, thorned terminals, cracked ink, and the dense black shapes that still read across a record sleeve. This generator renders your own band name, track title, or poster phrase in an original extreme-metal direction without copying a band logo or existing typeface.
Five presets move from readable blackletter to deliberately hostile underground texture. Thorned Blackletter keeps the word legible with hooked terminals, Rusted Cathedral adds pitted iron and weathered stone, Molten Core puts orange heat in the cracks, Grave Etch carves pale letters into a dark slab, and Live Flyer turns the phrase into high-contrast photocopied gig-poster type.
Use it for demos, fictional bands, event flyers, game guilds, apparel mockups, and album concepts. Choose PNG or JPEG in the studio. Quick offers experimental transparent PNG; Standard and Pro currently retain a background in the complete artwork.

FAQ
Death Metal Font Generator FAQ
No. It creates original extreme-metal lettering for your own words using broad visual ingredients such as blackletter, thorns, rust, and photocopied ink. It does not reproduce an existing band logo.
Yes. Thorned Blackletter and Grave Etch are tuned for black-metal and underground poster lettering, while Rusted Cathedral adds a heavier forged texture.
Quick offers experimental transparent PNG in the studio. Transparency has been checked on two low-quality 1K examples, not separately on every style; smoke, glow, and fine detail can leave semi-transparent edges. Standard and Pro currently retain a background, and image edits do not preserve transparency. For predictable transparent lettering with bundled font shapes, use Text to PNG at /tools/text-to-png. It creates new text graphics and does not remove backgrounds from AI images.
Short names and two-to-four-word titles give the dense strokes room to breathe. All-caps words also make the thorned terminals easier to read.
Yes. Your generated image can be used in original commercial artwork, posters, apparel, games, and social content without a watermark.

What this is based on
A letterform shape is not copyrightable in the United States, but the font file that draws it and the brand name that uses it can still be protected — so Fontique renders original lettering as images and never redistributes a typeface.
