By Fontique EditorialPublished Updated
This gothic lettering generator creates readable title images with pointed blackletter capitals, carved stone, and manuscript textures. Start with a short fantasy title, tabletop campaign name, or dark editorial heading. Keep space inside the letters so the words still read when the artwork is reduced to a cover or thumbnail. The output is a PNG or JPEG image, not copy-and-paste Unicode text or an installable font.
Cathedral Blackletter uses disciplined capitals and pale stone edges. Grave Carved adds weathered slate, while Candlelit Manuscript pairs burgundy ink with parchment and a warm gold edge. Thorned Ritual and Funeral Poster offer rougher ink and flyer treatments when a title needs more distress. These are directions for original artwork; compare the generated result at its final display size.
Use the complete composition for a game cover, campaign handout, Halloween invitation, or editorial graphic. For an extreme-metal band name with denser thorned silhouettes, follow the separate death-metal lettering option below. This page prioritizes readable gothic titles and does not reproduce a specific band logo.

FAQ
Gothic Lettering Image Generator FAQ
It renders your words as a PNG or JPEG title image with blackletter, stone, ink, or parchment treatments. It does not produce copy-and-paste Unicode text, an editable text layer, or a TTF/OTF font file.
Start with Cathedral Blackletter for disciplined capitals, Grave Carved for a stone treatment, or Candlelit Manuscript for parchment and ink. Thorned Ritual and Funeral Poster add more distress. For an extreme-metal band-name composition, use the separate death-metal lettering page linked in the task guide.
Quick offers experimental transparent PNG in the studio. Transparency has been checked on two low-quality 1K examples, not separately on every style; smoke, glow, and fine detail can leave semi-transparent edges. Standard and Pro currently retain a background, and image edits do not preserve transparency. For predictable transparent lettering with bundled font shapes, use Text to PNG at /tools/text-to-png. It creates new text graphics and does not remove backgrounds from AI images.
No. The presets use general blackletter, thorn, stone, parchment, and photocopy ingredients without reproducing a named band, artist, symbol, or existing logo.
Use one to four words and start with Cathedral Blackletter or Grave Carved. Thorned presets work best with short names because their flourishes need room around the counters.

What this is based on
A letterform shape is not copyrightable in the United States, but the font file that draws it and the brand name that uses it can still be protected — so Fontique renders original lettering as images and never redistributes a typeface.
