Cursed text, sometimes called Zalgo text, looks like a word being torn apart by static: diacritical marks stacked above, below, and through each letter until the line bleeds into its neighbors. People searching for a cursed font generator are usually after this exact effect, but no font is involved. The Fontique cursed text generator builds it from combining characters in the Unicode standard, so the result is real text you can paste into Discord, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, and Fortnite names. Five modes control how far the corruption goes. Whisper adds a light scatter of marks that stays readable, Haunted thickens the layer, Possessed stacks marks high above and deep below, Abyss goes maximal for a full glitch curtain, and Static Glitch mixes strikethrough and box-drawing fragments for a corrupted-file feel. Everything is generated instantly in your browser with no account. If you want cursed lettering as an actual image, our AI style pages, such as the burning and glow generators, download HD PNGs with a transparent background option.

Cursed Text Generator FAQ

Cursed text, also called Zalgo text, is ordinary text with many Unicode combining marks attached to each letter. Those marks were designed to add accents, but stacked dozens deep they overflow above and below the line. The cursed text generator adds them automatically at the intensity you choose.

Discord messages, Reddit comments, TikTok and Instagram captions, X posts, and many game chats display it fully. Usernames are hit or miss: Discord allows it, while Fortnite and Roblox often strip combining marks. Use the Whisper mode for the best chance of acceptance.

Yes, more than most fancy text. Screen readers may try to announce every combining mark, producing long streams of noise, and the stacked marks can cover nearby lines for sighted readers too. Use it sparingly and never for information people need to read.

Yes. The converter is free and unlimited, runs in your browser, and requires no account. The output is plain text, so you can use it in personal or commercial posts. Our AI image tools are separate and use credits, free at signup, one credit per standard image.

This tool outputs text only. For a downloadable graphic, try our AI lettering generators such as burning text or glow text, which render your words as HD PNGs with an optional transparent background. They give you far more control over color and mood.

What this is based on

Styled Unicode letters were encoded for mathematics, not for bios — which is exactly why support varies by app and why some letters arrive as boxes.

The use of these alphabets to simulate styled text appearance in plain text environments is an unintended side effect. Putting these alphabets in Plane 1 rather than in Plane 0 was meant to discourage people from using these characters in this way.
